The Hungarian Permanent Representation held a reception in honor of its national holiday on the 15th of March commemorating the revolution and freedom fight of 1848. The guests were invited to a screening of the 2017 film titled Kincsem, which depicts the story of the most successful race horse in history. Through the horse races viewers are also introduced to a rivalry between a Hungarian and an Austrian aristocrat after the fall of the 1848 revolution describing the historical context in the second half of the ninteenth century.
Attendants of the reception were greeted by Ambassador Ágnes Kertész, Permanent Representative of Hungary to the Council of Europe and a speech was given by Ms Lívia Járóka, Vice-President of the European Parliament. In her speech Ms Járóka highlighted the significance of the 1848 revolution in both Hungarian and European history. The Vice-Presidnet of the European Parliament when talking about the heros of the revolution also emphasised the importance of the involvement of minorities. The reception was also attended by the Seceretary General of the Council of Europe and European Commissioner Tibor Navracsics.
